GALT, CA (MPG) - The Galt Warriors softball team faced a challenging matchup against the Liberty Ranch Hawks on April 8. The Hawks, who currently sit atop the league standings, showcased their dominance with a decisive victory over the Warriors.

Liberty Ranch Head Coach Vince Bunac noted that the Hawks had a rocky start to the season but have since found their rhythm.

“We always play tough competition in our non-league games,” he said. “Once we started our league games, this team really put it together, thanks to the leadership from our seniors. Our pitching has been outstanding, particularly with Laura Quinn and Paityn Snow providing a strong one-two punch. When our pitchers perform well, our offense tends to follow suit, and we’ve seen that with freshman Mariella Granata leading the way with a .511 batting average, and the team average of .389.”

In the game against Galt, senior Snow pitched a masterful five-inning complete game for the Hawks, allowing just one hit. She walked two batters and struck out an impressive seven Warriors.

On the other side, Galt freshman Evianna Barrera faced a tough outing, giving up 13 hits and walking eight batters before being relieved by fellow freshman Makayla Moreno in the final inning.

Galt managed to secure only one hit during the contest, credited to sophomore Rianna Mayer. In contrast, the Hawks had a prolific offensive display, with Mariella Granata leading the charge with five hits. Snow and senior Gracyn Gravette contributed four hits each, while Carlie Perez added three hits to the mix Quinn, Kaitlynn Castro, Bella Granada and Xiana Juarez each tallied two hits, while Shelby Duarte and Khali Barrantes rounded out the team’s hitting efforts with one hit apiece.

Although the Hawks didn’t hit any home runs, they did manage impressive triples by Castro, Snow, Granada and Juarez.

Coach Bunac concluded, “If we stay focused and continue to work hard, this team will have a very successful season. My assistant coaches and I are proud to be part of this special team, and we look forward to our future challenges ahead.”

With this resounding victory, the Liberty Ranch Hawks continue to establish themselves as one of the teams to beat in the league, while the Galt Warriors will look to regroup and refocus for their next matchup.
