GALT, CA (MPG) - The Galt Warrior boys’ soccer team completely shut down Rosemont 7-0 in their first league game of the season.
To prepare, the Warriors had a tough preseason competing against some D-1 teams, beating Elk Grove, Turlock, Tokay, Downey and Atwater.
The team worked very well together against Rosemont, staying settled, connecting an amazing number of passes and working well together.
New Head Coach Julian Parra isn’t taking anything for granted.
“There is still work to be done so we can accomplish playing more as a unit,” said Parra. “The goal since the first day, which was when we first had our first boys’ soccer interest meeting during lunch, was that the overall program goal was to look more united and play together as one. The boys deserve all the credit in the world; they work extremely hard and 1 through 25 all care for each other’s overall well-being.”
“Again, we must continue to perfect our game, we have to build strong habits and maintain constant discipline and focus in order to improve on a day-to-day basis.”
Junior Giovanni De Leon scored two goals against Rosemont. Freshman Noah Stratton also scored two goals and got a huge hug from his big brother, senior Ben Stratton. Seniors Hayden Miller, Jaylen Mendez and Christian Gomez also all scored a goal.
The goal assists came from Gilberto Coss, Josue Diaz, Hayden Miller, Breen Velazquez, Christian Gomez and Giovanni De Leon.
The boys will face Bradshaw Christian, El Dorado and Franklin before the year ends.
