Person Struck and Killed by Train in Galt

GALT, CA (MPG) - An unidentified person was struck and killed by a train on the Union Pacific railroad tracks near the corner of A Street and McFarland Street early Wednesday morning.
The victim has yet to be identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s office. It remains unclear what led to the fatal collision.
According to Galt Police on the scene, a call for service was put out around 6:30 a.m. Initially the call was for medical service, but the victim was determined to be deceased at the scene.
According to Galt Police the train that struck the individual was stopped during the early stages of the investigation.
A Union Pacific spokesperson confirmed the incident in an email to The Galt Herald but did not provide any additional details.
