GALT, CA (MPG) - The Liberty Ranch baseball team is riding high with an impressive eight-game winning streak, showcasing its skill and determination on the field. Despite a few games being postponed due to rain, the Hawks have maintained their competitive edge with outstanding pitching, solid fielding and effective hitting.
On Monday, March 21, the Hawks faced Union Mine for the second matchup of the season, having previously triumphed 5-1 earlier in the month. This time, strong performances across the board led to a resounding 9-1 victory, with freshman pitcher Max Tapia taking the mound and delivering an exceptional performance.
The standout moment of the game came when senior Vance Moe struck the first home run of the season. His teammates rallied around him, celebrating the milestone at home plate and highlighting the team’s camaraderie and spirit.
“It felt amazing to hit that home run,” said Moe. “The support from my teammates made it even more special. We’re all in this together, and I couldn’t have done it without them.”
In the following games against Argonaut on Tuesday and Thursday, the Hawks continued their winning ways, demolishing their opponents with scores of 8-0 and 6-1, respectively. Senior pitcher Kade LeCompte was phenomenal on Tuesday, displaying dominance on the mound while only giving up two hits and two walks, striking out an impressive 11 batters.
“Kade set the tone for us on the mound,” said head coach Jason Adversalo. “His ability to command the game allowed us to showcase our offensive strengths.”
Sophomore Nolan House shined at the plate, amassing four hits against Argonaut and solidifying his presence in the lineup. Tapia and fellow teammate Garrett Owen also contributed significantly, each notching three hits in the game.
“Nolan has been productive for us,” Adversalo noted. “He finds ways to get on base and keeps the pressure on opposing pitchers. It’s great to see the young guys stepping up.”
The resilience of the team was further demonstrated on Thursday when Vance Moe took over the pitching duties. He continued to impress, striking out 12 batters while giving up just four hits and walking three.
“Vance showed his capability and leadership,” said Adversalo. “He has a great mix of pitches and uses them effectively to keep hitters off-balance.”
Looking ahead, Liberty Ranch is gearing up for critical matchups against Rosemont and Bradshaw, culminating in a highly anticipated series against cross-town rivals Galt High.
“These next few games are crucial as we aim to finish strong,” Adversalo emphasized. “We have a well-rounded team this year. Our talent runs deep. We have strong pitchers and kids we can count on at the bat and in the field. The boys are working well as a team, and that’s reflected in our play.”
The Hawks will look to extend their winning streak and continue their pursuit of a successful season. With the support of their fans and the chemistry on the field, Liberty Ranch baseball remains a force to be reckoned with as they head further into the season.
