GALT, CA (MPG) - The Real Galt FC, a semi-professional men’s soccer team rooted in the local community, is off to a promising start as it launches its new season. Made up  largely of players from Galt and Liberty Ranch high schools, the team has made strides in building a competitive roster with homegrown talent.

As of now, the Real Galt FC has played four games, boasting a record of two wins, one tie and one loss. Their victories came against Davis Legacy and Reno United FC, while they faced a challenging match against San Juan FC, leading to their sole loss. Additionally, they secured a hard-fought tie with FC Folsom, demonstrating their competitive spirit early in the season.

The excitement surrounding Real Galt FC extends beyond the matches themselves. There’s no admission fee to attend the games, making it an accessible entertainment option for the entire community. Fans can enjoy lively game days with local food vendors, including Aroma Bakery, and even engage with the team’s spirited wolf mascot, Lobo. Children especially enjoy the interactive opportunities to shoot goals on the field during halftime.

The club benefits from the generosity of local business sponsorships, primarily by Ward Engineering, which also sponsors special nights featuring free food, like taco night and tamale night, at many home games. This community-driven support ensures that residents can enjoy the sport without worrying about entry or parking fees.

Matthew Ward, one of the sponsors, expressed his enthusiasm for the team and its impact on the community.

“It really is the best-kept secret around, and I think the community needs to know about it,” said Ward. “It is such a great team and organization that brings the community together for free and entertaining evenings out, showcasing Galt’s own local talent.”

Looking ahead, there are still three home games scheduled at Liberty Ranch High School, and the public is encouraged to come out and support the local athletes. The upcoming matches include:

Northern Nevada SC at 5 p.m. May 3 at Damonte Ranch High School.
Sonoma Valley United FC at 6:30 p.m. May 10 at Liberty Ranch High School.
