GALT, CA (MPG) - The Warrior stunt team celebrated a significant milestone last week with its senior night, honoring standout performer Jayda Williams while also showcasing its remarkable progress this season. Under the new coaching direction of Emmery Buys, the team has achieved an impressive third place in the league, a position it has never reached before.

Coach Emmery Buys expressed her pride in the team’s achievements thus far but acknowledged that the journey has not been without its challenges.

“The main focus for us has been improving technique,” she said. “We started from the basics, emphasizing how to step in and out of stunts. The bases and back spots have had to learn how to stay solid in the stunt, while the flyers needed to understand how to engage their core and balance their weight to maintain their position in the air. It’s all about proper foundation, and every day presents new learning experiences.”

Buys highlighted the dedication shown by the team, noting that progress has come with hard work and commitment.

“Every day we progress farther and farther,” she shared with enthusiasm. “I am very excited as we become more competitive. Building a strong program is my goal, and it’s evident the team is fully invested in this process.”

Proud of the resilience and effort her athletes have demonstrated, Buys continues to emphasize the significance of teamwork and individual growth.

“It’s a lot of hard work and sweat,” she continued. “This team has really put in the blood, sweat and tears this year to get as far as we have. Their dedication is commendable, and it’s paying off.”

The celebration of senior night not only recognized the contributions of Jayda Williams but also served as a reminder of the hard-fought battles and achievements that have characterized this season. The team’s trajectory under Buys’ leadership has instilled a renewed sense of purpose and energy.

With the season ongoing, the Warrior stunt team is eagerly looking ahead, driven by their newfound competitive spirit. The combination of solid coaching, dedicated athletes and a strong foundation in technique promises an exciting future for the program.

The community looks forward to watching this talented team soars to new heights.
