GALT, CA (MPG) - The City of Galt invites the community to celebrate Independence Day on Saturday, July 4 with a full day of family fun throughout the city.

Celebrations commence at 7:30 a.m. with the 14th Annual Officer Kevin Tonn Memorial 5K Run/Walk. Pre-registration is required by June 6 to receive an event shirt.

At 9 a.m., the Saturday Market will be open to the community to shop from local vendors, enjoy the festive atmosphere and grab a great spot to watch the Independence Day Parade as it travels through Old Town Galt.

The Independence Day Parade will start at 9:30 a.m., with entries now being accepted. Families, businesses, community groups, bands, dance teams and organizations are invited to participate. The deadline to submit entries is Thursday, June 25. Community members are encouraged to review the Best Viewing Map, arrive early and bring chairs along the parade route.

Later in the day, starting at 6 p.m., there will be a family fun kids’ zone. A live performance will feature music by the band North Forty, plus roaming entertainment, 4th of July swag giveaways, bounce houses and face painting. Cost is $10 per child wristband.

At 7 p.m., Fireworks in the Pool will take place where guests can enjoy the fireworks showcase from their pool floats at the Gora Aquatic Center. Ticket sales are open and are available for purchase at the Gora Aquatic Center. Tickets will be available during public swim hours until sold out.

The Fireworks Spectacular will start at 9:30 p.m., ending the evening with a fireworks spectacular at Veterans Field (900 Caroline Ave.).
